Machu Picchu, Peru – Weather

by Passrider

Weather Local weather is very important when traveling to a place like Machu Picchu, Peru, its tantamount due to the elevation and the terrain of the area.

The first rule of thumb of travel is to always take an umbrella with you regardless of where you visit and at what time of the year.  A light jacket and/or a pancho are also recommended.  It gets pretty windy on the mountain, so a pancho may be a better bet in this case, but you should still have your umbrella handy.

Also dress in layers as it will get colder as the elevation increases.  you can always peel off layers as it gets warmer on your descent.

Check the weather using this widget below for your trip.  The weather in Cusco is very similar to that of Machu Picchu.
