While in Bangkok in October of this year (2015), I had a complimentary two-night stay at the Oriental Residence Bangkok. This is a luxury property located in the center of the city. Here’s what I thought of my stay.
Check-in
I took the short walk from the BTS Chit Lom station and after a short walk ended up at the entrance of the property. It was really hot in Bangkok so I should have really taken a cab or a tuk tuk.
I was greeted by a very pleasant check-in agent and within minutes I was presented with a cold towel, a bottle of water as well as a welcome drink. How did they know I needed that? I had to get to my meeting so I was able to stow my belongings before I left since my room was not ready. I was told my stuff would be placed in the room; what service I thought.
I was offered a ride to the subway station via their air conditioned van which was well worth it due to the heat. It makes the trip every half an hour if there is anyone waiting to go. You don’t get a ride coming back to the hotel though. Unless you are perhaps luck to spot the van when you arrive I guess.
Once I returned much later that day, I just picked up the keys from the front desk and sure enough when I made it to my room, my bags were neatly placed in the corner of the room. Yeah!
The Property
Like many properties in Bangkok, this one is part hotel and part residence. So that means that select floors are assigned to people who actually live in the building. In this property, that starts at the 22nd floor.
The 4th floor is shared space and consist of a swimming pool, fitness center and a common area that actually have a foos ball table and also a table tennis table.
The pool area also have some funky looking cabanas that you can use to relax before/after using the pool or if you don’t want to use the pool at all. This is my favorite area of the property.
The Room
The room (Grand Deluxe) is actually a mini apartment consisting of a fully functional kitchen with a dining room/living room with a dining table and a couch.
The bedroom has two or one bed as you wish. The bathroom is almost the length of the room itself. It also comes complete with a bathtub, rain shower and way too much space to put your clothing and other things.
Their is a turn down service where they place a mat on the floor at the middle of your bed complete with slippers. For some reason the first night my slippers were not placed, but the second night they were placed. No biggie of course.
Did I mention that I have bathrobes? :-).
I felt like I needed to cook something since I had a full sized kitchen, but I did not bother. I did peel a mango that I had bought from the night market though. Does that count as cooking?
I did not have a one bedroom suite, but am told that they are a tad larger and comes with a washing machine. There are also two and three bedroom suites as well in case you have a larger party or just need the extra space :-). So if you have to get some laundry done on your stay inquire about one of those units at check-in or when you make the booking online.
I was also very impressed by the electronic drawer. I had all kinds of plugs and cables. Check out this photo.
Breakfast
There was a complimentary breakfast included with my deal. When you book your own stay, this is an optional item. I recommend trying it at least one day as it is divine. There is a menu for you to choose from or you can have the buffet. Café Claire just have way too much stuff to eat. The staff is exceptional and will take care of your every needs.
I’m a big tea fan so the TWG Tea was my favorite. I think I had too many cups :-).
Café Claire also has afternoon tea although as I was always out in the afternoon I was unable to partake.
Check Out
I always hate leaving a hotel, its usually the worst part of the experience just ’cause I have to leave. But the Oriental Residence makes it flawless.
Once you’ve settled your account, you can take a cab or a tuk tuk which they will call for you or you can take their van that will take you to the Phloen Chit station just a five minutes drive away in an air conditioned van at no charge.
Verdict
I loved it. The property is centrally located in a quiet neighborhood and close to local transportation. Plus the decor is beautiful and comes with all the amenities I need.
I’d recommend a stay at the Oriental Residence the next time you are in Bangkok. Have you been to Bangkok and stayed at this property? What did you think?

Thanks.

We stayed there in a 2 bed suite last month and loved it! The beds were the most comfortable I have ever slept in and we live in hotels for most of the year. Looks like you had a great stay there too.
