Need Constant WiFi When You Travel In France? Try Bienvenue WiFi

Bienvenue wifi boxI was in Paris recently and ran across Fabrice and Jean-Baptiste from Bienvenue W-Fi everywhere. i talked them into loaning my their Mifi device for a few days  and boy was I excited. I actually did not want to give it back, but alas, I had to.

The idea is that if you need wifi everywhere you go on your trip this is the deal for you. No need to wait until you get to a Wifi hotspot, you can share your photos, go on Facebook, check email, even do some work and the signal is so strong (4G), you can do a Periscope of your travels for your friends and family back at home.

How Does It Work?

  1. You rent it – head over to http://www.bienvenue-wifi.com and sign up and then tell them where you will be and they will deliver it to you currently for 9 EUR plus about 9.99 EUR/day for the service. It comes in a nifty little black box with a plug so you can charge it up.
  2. Connect it – basically, you turn it on and it immediately connects to the local network
  3. Use it – connects to the network and enter the password, voila you are done. The good thing is that you can connect up to 10 devices to it :-). How cool is that!

Done!

In my tests I found that the charge held for about 8 hours of mu constantly using it. Which I think is pretty good. Plus the device is small enough that it fits into my pocket easily.
