10 Photos Of The TWA Terminal At New York-JFK (JFK) Airport

I was in New York for a weekend back in 2016 for a friend’s 50th birthday party. As a result, I had to do a few pickups at New York-JFK airport. Yeah, I really hated that; not!

My first pickup was at JetBlue, then I came back the next day and did an Air Canada pickup and yet another trip to do the Air Canada drop-off. Loved it all.

While there I was able to see the old TWA Terminal that I’ve used at least once on my trip to Cairo, Egypt (CAI) back in April 2001. We were non-revving on passes on a TWA Boeing 767. So fun.

This particular airplane N640TW was actually dedicated to an employee, Billye E. Cordell which I thought was really special.

Well, I was able to take some photos of the terminal on this visit as we were stuck in traffic, surprise :-). And while my passengers were getting settled, I took some more photos of the other side of the terminal.

The first three are from my trip back in April 2001. Sorry for the look of the photos, but its all I have from my Olympus camera back then.

Have you visited this Terminal? what are thoughts?

  1. Thank you, Kerwin.  Yes, I, as a TWA employee, transited that terminal many times.  Many happy memories….. and yes I was a Flight Crewmember who flew International then — Including CAIRO!  (CAI)  Happy memories indeed.  Also MXP (Milan), FCO (Rome) TLV(Tel Aviv) BRU (Brussels), LIS (Lisbon).  You did a gret job of getting a nice variety of pictures.  Thank you.

Also, you do  a great job of spreading information about a lot of different types and places and I hope you are enjoying it as much as we enjoy learning from you.

“Happy Trails” to you and “so long for now….”

  3. I was a student at the Academy of Aeronautics, across the street from LaGuardia Airport back in the mid 60’s.  On Saturday, we would take several buses to get out to JFK and wander around all day looking at airplanes and people.  I love the old photos, brings back a lot of memories.

  5. Thanks for the memories! I was a JFK based with TWA prior to the strike of ’86. TWA was wonderful, still flying, but it will always be my first love!

  9. So many great memories Kerwin. Of our trip to Cairo which was one of the last before TWA pulled out of the market and also as a TWA flight attendant based at JFK from 1986 to 1990. In the words of James Taylor, “isn’t it a lovely ride.”
