✈️ EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2025: Planes, People, and Pure Aviation Magic

Every July, the aviation world turns its eyes to one place—Oshkosh, Wisconsin. If you’re an avgeek, this is your place to be. I had the chance to attend EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2025, and wow—it delivered! This was my third time here I believe :-).

From military jets flexing their might to commercial aircraft on static display and vintage planes bringing nostalgia to life, Oshkosh was electric, and yes there were electic planes too and also ultra lights and did I mention not one, but two Goodyear blimps!

I captured the energy, the aircraft, and the experiences in a series of videos you’ll find throughout this post.

TL;DR: This post gives you a look at what Oshkosh 2025 was like through video, talks food and logistics, and answers your burning questions about planning your trip.

🍔 What’s There to Eat at Oshkosh?

AirVenture isn’t just about aircraft—it’s also about food. You’ll find:

  • Festival fare: Brats, burgers, BBQ, and fried everything
  • International eats: Greek gyros, Asian noodles, and Mexican tacos
  • Airline-sponsored lounges: Some airlines host pop-ups with swag and refreshments
  • EAA food courts: Spread across the grounds with shaded seating and decent coffee

Tip: Try the cheese curds (you’re in Wisconsin after all) and bring a reusable water bottle—they have refill stations.

🛬 How To Get To Oshkosh

Getting to Oshkosh is half the adventure. I flew into Chicago and then drove up to Oshkosh, WI for the show:

  • Fly in: Wittman Regional Airport (OSH) is the main hub and becomes the world’s busiest during the event! General Aviation pilots are welcome of course.
  • Commercial Flights: Fly into nearby airports:
    • Appleton International Airport (ATW) – 30 mins away
    • Green Bay (GRB) – 1.5 hours
    • Milwaukee (MKE) – 2 hours
    • Chicago O’Hare (ORD) – 3 hours
  • Drive in: Ample parking and RV spots available.
  • Camp: EAA’s “Camp Scholler” offers tent and RV camping right on-site! You can even camp right next to your own airplane

🧠 FAQ: Planning Your Oshkosh Visit

What is Oshkosh?

The EAA’s AirVenture—an annual week-long airshow and aviation expo attracting over 600,000 people and 10,000 aircraft.

When is Oshkosh 2025?

July 21–27, 2025.

How much does it cost to attend?

Daily tickets from ~$49. Weekly passes, youth/senior discounts, and early-bird rates available on the EAA website. There are also separate rates for members of EAA.

Where should I stay?

Hotels in Oshkosh and Appleton (book early!), Camp Scholler, or local Airbnbs. You may also stay in other cities in the region such as Green Bay, which is where I stayed.

What should I bring?

Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, portable charger, reusable bottle, folding chair, walking shoes and money as it’s quite pricey there and there are a ton of things to purchase and you can also get flights on select airplanes. I flew on a Bell 47 helicopter type; this is the helicopter used in Mash.
