The Caribbean Islands Non-Rev Planning Playbook
A practical reference for planning and traveling to Caribbean islands.
Non-revving to the Caribbean looks simple on a route map. In reality, it’s one of the easiest places to get stuck:
limited frequency, last flights of the day, weather disruptions, and fewer clean recovery options.
What This Playbook Is
This is a planning reference built for airline employees. It’s designed to be used
before you leave home — not at the gate, not after a missed flight, and not once options are already gone.
- Island-by-island risk levels (how forgiving—or unforgiving—each island can be)
- Last-flight reality checks so you don’t bet everything on one option
- Carrier coverage + gateway logic to help you build smarter backups
- Practical notes on airports, ferries, hotels, and ground realities that matter when plans change
- Massive list of airlines serving the Caribbean
Why This Exists
I’ve non-revved across the Caribbean for years — and I grew up there. Even with experience, trips can still go sideways.
One of my worst: after getting bumped trying to return to Europe, I ended up buying a $500 revenue ticket
from Guadeloupe to San Juan just to reset and get home. That wasn’t bad luck — that was poor recovery planning.
This playbook exists to help you avoid those moments.
Who This Is For
- Airline employees who non-rev to the Caribbean
- Staff who want fewer surprises and better backups
- Travelers who know that “getting there” is only half the job
Not a tourism brochure: This is not a beach ranking or “best resorts” guide.
It’s about planning options and recovery and there are some beach mentions too :-).
What This Is Not
- It is not a guarantee you’ll get on a flight
- It does not replace checking loads, schedules, or airline tools
- It will not prevent weather, swaps, or last-minute changes
Non-rev travel always carries uncertainty. This playbook helps you manage that uncertainty, not eliminate it.
