Dubai Airshow 2025: Highlights, Aircraft Demos, and My Videos
The Dubai Airshow 2025 is underway, and once again the aviation world is out here showing its best. I’m on the ground capturing everything—from futuristic air taxis to next-gen widebodies—so you can experience the show from wherever you are.
JOBY’s eVTOL Steals the Spotlight
JOBY’s electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL) drew massive attention this year. It’s sleek, it’s quiet, and it feels like the future of short-haul mobility. Dubai continues to position itself as an early adopter for air taxi operations.
My video: https://youtu.be/rrqQg8_ZklM
Why It Matters
- Urban Air Mobility (UAM) is becoming mainstream
- Dubai is building one of the world’s first full-scale air taxi ecosystems
- EVTOL aircraft could reduce congestion while improving connectivity
Boeing 777-9 Demo Flight
The Boeing 777-9 delivered a powerful, elegant flight demo with that signature wing flex and the GE9X engines humming away. Every time this aircraft performs, it reminds us why the 777X program still gets so much buzz.
My video: https://youtu.be/eDnDh0qZD6o
Why It Matters
- The 777-9 is expected to become a new flagship widebody for major carriers
- Enhanced efficiency and range will shape future long-haul networks
Night Drone Light Show
Dubai brought out its signature nighttime magic with a drone light show that lit up the sky in perfect synchronization. Hundreds of drones formed aircraft outlines, geometric patterns, and UAE symbols — all choreographed to music.
It was one of the most visually stunning highlights of the event and a reminder of how far aerial display technology has come.
My video: https://youtu.be/NrGQcy4xGzA
Why It Matters
- Drone shows are replacing fireworks as sustainable aerial displays
- Perfect showcase of Dubai’s tech-forward identity
- A great add-on to the Airshow experience, especially for evening visitors
Opening Ceremony Energy
The Airshow kicked off with the usual Dubai flair—fly-bys, smoke trails, national colors, and tight formation flying. The opening sequence always sets the tone, and 2025 delivered.

Airbus A350-1000 Flying Display
The Airbus A350-1000 put on a smooth and refined flying demonstration that really showed off the aircraft’s agility and quiet performance. The takeoff roll, wing sweep, and tight turns were textbook Airbus — graceful, efficient, and incredibly photogenic against the Dubai backdrop.
The A350 is always a crowd favorite, and this year’s display at Dubai Airshow 2025 kept that tradition alive.
My video: https://youtu.be/qjJ6ThY_Ges
Why It Matters
- The A350-1000 continues to be Airbus’ flagship long-haul widebody
- Strong focus on fuel efficiency and reduced emissions
- Airlines are increasingly choosing A350s for ultra-long-haul operations
B-52 Stratofortress Appearance
One of the unexpected highlights of Dubai Airshow 2025 was the appearance of the legendary U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress. No matter how many times you’ve seen this aircraft, it still stops you in your tracks. Massive wingspan, unmistakable profile, and decades of aviation history all in one frame.
The crowd reaction said it all — phones out, cameras up, and everyone leaning forward a little closer. I did miss most of its passing though; here’s the video below.
My short video: https://youtu.be/OlF1sUG25Z4
Why It Matters
- The B-52 remains one of the longest-serving military aircraft in the world
- Its presence adds historical weight to a show filled with futuristic aircraft
- Always a fan favorite for avgeeks, military historians, and photographers
More Highlights From the Show Floor
I’ll keep adding content throughout the week, including:
- Emirates A380 cabin showcase
- Airbus A350-1000 static display (if present)
- Boeing ecoDemonstrator
- Military aircraft lineup
- Helicopter displays
- Aviation tech & startup booths
- Future Air Mobility zone
- Surprises, prototypes, and unique finds
Behind the Scenes
Here’s a little of what it’s like navigating Dubai Airshow as an aviation geek:
- How the crowds are moving
- During the aerial show the crowds will sit under the shadows of the airplane. There are no chairs so you have to sit on the ground or stand; most stand; it’s hot
- Tips for filming or photographing aircraft
- Watch for the daytime shadows
- Be patient, people do move out of the way
- Don’t be scared to ask someone to take a photo for you; they will
- Best spots for runway action
- Anywhere on the flight line is fine; try to stay away from the ground power units are they are all quite loud.
- Fastest ways to get around the expo grounds
- Walk. You don’t have a choice anyways, unless you’re a VIP, then you get to be moved around by golf carts.
