A Growing List of Airlines I’ve Flown

I love flying.

During my high school years, I lived in the flight path of the Norman Manley International Airport (KIN) in Kingston, Jamaica.

I always dreamed of flying on the “iron bird” as airplanes are called in Jamaica and other places I’m sure. And was super excited to take my very first flight when I was nine.

I would always wait for that British Airways Boeing 747 to fly over my house and wondered where are those people coming from and where they were going. Much the same as I did as a younger child growing up in the country part of Jamaica.

My first airline flight was on Air Jamaica (JM) and then LIAT (LI) from Kingston, Jamaica to Fort de France, Martinique via Port-au-Prince, Haiti (PAP) in 1980. I was super excited as it was a French Exchange program sponsored by my school and paid for by my parents.

On the way back, we stopped in Haiti for I think two days. This trip got me even more hooked on travel and two years later when I graduated from high school, I went to Barbados for university and the flying continued.

I took advantage of this opportunity to visit as many of the Caribbean islands as possible during my Holiday trips back home.

I even spent some Holidays with friends I made from other Caribbean islands. It was an amazing time as a teenager and a small cry from my humble beginnings in the mountain town of Carisbrook in Jamaica.

My love for airlines continued and I kept flying as often as I could afford it. Which was not a lot as life and survival got in the way :-).

Once I started working for an airline in 1994, I went crazy with flying. My first international flight when working for an airline was flying with Virgin Atlantic (VS) to London, then flew bmi british midland to Paris and then Delta Airlines back to the U.S.

Working for an airline changed my live forever!

It opened up a whole new world; one that I’ve always dreamed of.

To date, I’ve flown 180 of the over 5,000 airlines around the world; I may have forgotten one or two :-). I guess you can say I love to fly. Take a look, have you flown any of them?
